Former Indian Cricket Captain MS Dhoni has posted his retirement through an emotional Instagram video. This news has come post many speculations on Dhoni's retirement from Indian cricket team post World Cup 2019 Semi-final defeat against New Zealand.
Neglected by selectors:
Dhoni had been dropped from all the series
happened post World Cup. Former India skipper had been away from international
cricket since India's exit from the World Cup after losing the semi-final clash
to New Zealand. Dhoni later joined the Indian Army for two weeks and also
missed the West Indies tour. He was also not selected for the T-20 matches
against South Africa at home.
Remarkable Achievements:
MS Dhoni is the only cricketer to win all the
three ICC tournaments as captain. Dhoni, who is 39 years old, led India to
victory in the inaugural World T-20 in his first-ever tournament as captain in
2007. He then guided India to their first World Cup title in nearly 28 years in
2011 and won the Champions Trophy in 2013. Indian cricket fans will always
remember Dhoni's heroics captaincy in the World Cup in 2011.
Captain Cool & Remarkable Finisher:
Under his captaincy, Dhoni had led India in a
total of 199 matches in the 50-over format, guiding the side to 110 wins and 74
defeats.
The wicket-keeper skipper had also led India in 60
Test matches and helped the team to achieve 27 wins.
Besides this, Dhoni also holds an exceptional captaincy record in the T-20 format. He had guided India to 41 wins out of the 72 matches the country played under his captaincy.
An Ideal Person:
He is an ideal to many Indians as well as foreigners
for his cool temper and leadership qualities. When he started his International
cricket career, he was famous because of his long hairstyle and many followed
the same. International cricket will miss his presence, but his unorthodox batting
style and quality captaincy will always be paramount.
